Triboelectric Film Sensor for Integrity Monitoring of Bolted Joints

In this study, a concept and design of self-powered sensor that utilizes triboelectric effect to evaluate the condition tensile bolted joints was proposed. Based on fact charge yields electrostatic voltage induced by separation contacting rough surfaces, proposed is film-shaped made inexpensive materials being installed between objects be fastened. The principle it detects microscale relative motions surfaces against an external vibratory load when integrity fastened joint compromised due decrease in bolt’s fastening force. we designed fabricated tested specimen subjected inertial loading, experimentally shown output amplitude increased as force decreased. addition, modeling study performed explain unexpected observed at medium preloads, combining mechanical models with experimental results two different circuit configurations. Estimation density performed, which found consistent contact mechanics model assumed. Finally, calculation based presented mechanical/triboelectric provided, confirming validity study.
